Scientastic!

THE PROJECT

We were called by Studio Banana for the creation of the whole identity concept and brand guidelines for Scientastic! the new science festival of the EPFL. The Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne, regarded as one of the world leading universities, is a research university in Lausanne, Switzerland, that specialises in physical sciences and engineering.

We presented a brief with the concept proposal and brand attributes and we were awarded the contest. The project goal was to define the design attributes and visual strategy as well as covering all the pieces that shaped the event, from the logo, teaser, ticket, poster, infographic map, signage and expositions.

THE FESTIVAL

Today, technological innovations, scientific advances are shaping our reality. The École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne is launching the first edition of Scientastic! A practice of science thought-provoking and emotion among children and adolescents. A Science Festival open to everyone to explore, discover, practice, exchange around science and technology, but especially for understand the world every day and to imagine and explore the innovations of today and tomorrow!

Nothing is lost, nothing is created, everything is transformed.

In 2011, the Federal Council and Parliament have decided to abandon nuclear power in Switzerland by 2050.

The theme of Scientastic! 2015 is part of this current news and offers to consider the major challenges of the energy transition.
How can we reduce our energy consumption? What is energy storage, how can we reinvent it? What are the alternatives?

EPFL advanced researchs in this field are numerous. Hydropower, dams, water management, engineering and managing storage, plasma physics, fusion of atoms, solar energy, biomass, hydrogen production. Recently, the school and its public partners launched the Swiss-Energyscope platform, an educational tool for future energy scenarios.
Through visits, conferences, exhibitions, demonstrations, screenings, workshops for children and adults, these research areas will be addressed in order to understand what role science can play in shaping future desirable.
